Founded in 1999, this organisation is a publishing company offering marketing and
e-business professionals practical information and advice on getting the best
results from interactive channels. The company publishes subscription-access
reports and guides via their site and runs exclusive
roundtables and events to enable professionals working in e-business to share
knowledge and network. The company has over 12,000 registered users in the UK.
Summary of Responsibilities
The editor will be responsible for meeting The company's annual individual
subscription sales targets and optimising the conversions of site visitors to
paying subscribers. The Editor will be responsible for all content published on
the website including the writing, commissioning and licensing of content.
Detailed Job Description
The editor will undertake the following in his/her role:
- Manage and publish the weekly newsletter 'E-business Briefing
- Commission Buyers’ Guides and manage publication, including sub-editing, formatting, uploading etc.
- Research and write ‘Online Marketing Benchmarks’ (10 per year – 1 for each sector)
- Write ‘Top News’, ‘Top Issues & Trends’, ‘Top Resources’ documents (4 per month to coincide with roundtables)
- Work with content partners as necessary
- Do search engine marketing (on site page optimisation, internal site links, pay per click Google AdWords etc.) and get relevant links to the company to help drive subscriptions
- Dealing with customer site enquiries to info@
- Using site stats to optimise conversion rate
- General: Driving subscriptions (catching drop outs in the buying process, targeted e-mails and follow ups, sending free samples to relevant people etc.)
- General: need to be very up-to-date with industry press (in particular New Media Age and Revolution)
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Entrepreneurial, enterprising, committed, ambitious
- Passion for, and knowledge of, the UK new media industry, in particular marketing and operational issues and trends (not ‘hard’ technology)
- Be a good writer – clear, concise, succinct analysis and filtering of information to focus on the most useful insight and practical information and advice.
- Publishing experience and a desire to build a career in electronic publishing. Experience of subscription-based business information publishing, including newsletters, particularly welcome.
