The role:
Six month contract - possible temp to perm.
Responsibilities include:
- Impose editorial policy and standards on content
- Assess quality and conformity of writers’ output and reviewers’ comments
- Identify and address problems with writers and reviewers
- Modify content in line with reviewers’ criticisms and comments
- Check evidence-based content
- Research internet & published papers for evidence on drugs and other
modalities and outcomes
- Ensure that the most comprehensive & up-to-date evidence is cited in
online
- Remove any material that does not meet criteria
- Allocate evidence levels to remaining evidence
- Rewrite evidence-based content, as necessary, in accordance with house
style
- Liaise with Editorial Advisory Board member, as necessary
- Brief and supervise Editorial Assistant to retrieve and check any
necessary resource material and cross-check hyperlinks
Requirements:
- Biomedical degree
- 6 months medical editorial experience desirable but not essential
- Experience of dealing with senior members of medical profession, eg at
consultant level
- Medical writing experience essential – ideally 6 months minimum
- Broad knowledge of medical field
- Copy editing experience desirable
- Scheduling skills
- Writing/rewriting skills in medical topics essential
- Excellent IT skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, Access
